ON the occasions I have met Karren Brady she has always struck me as a very intelligent girl with a genuine passion and understanding of football.
Which is why I am baffled by her recent comments undermining the job Alex McLeish is trying to do in returning Birmingham City to the Premier League.
As managing director at St Andrew’s, Karren has the right to say whatever she wants about how the club is run and I don’t begrudge her that.
But I am not sure what her latest outburst is meant to achieve.
Alex seems to have got Blues back on track with two victories in a week and his team are now approaching the most important period of the season in their promotion push.
Seeing such a senior figure at the club publicly question him in a national newspaper column will only serve to distract him from the task in hand.
