LUKE Young has denied nerves could come between Villa and a Champions League spot and has urged his team-mates to prove they are worthy of rubbing shoulders with the established big four.
Villa hope to end a barren six-game run against Tottenham at Villa Park with Manchester City manager Mark Hughes the first to suggest that tension would could play a part because of the uniqueness of the situation facing Villa.
But the in-form England defender says the sunshine break in Dubai has done the players the power of good and says Villa’s players won’t get jittery.
“I don’t think our run is down to nerves,” he said.
“I am not sure that anyone in our dressing room after playing at the top level would be nervous about a game.
“We know that we are in a situation where we need to win games to stay where we are.
“At Manchester City there were a few tired legs who had played a lot of games but the break has given us a chance to recharge and really attack the last ten games.
“The break has done us the world of good.
“We feel refreshed and ready to go again.”
Villa were a shadow of themselves in the first half of that defeat at City.
