Aston Villa: Gabby Agbonlahor promises to win back the fans
"I just think we are being a bit unlucky at the moment. Maybe we had some luck in other games we won during our long unbeaten run.
"But I think we can keep the challenge going to the end of the season.
"We are not going to throw away the hard work we have done. We know it is going to be tough but it will be tough for Arsenal as well.
"There are nine games left, we both know what we've got to do. We've got to try to do well in every game.
"But, even when we were six points ahead of Arsenal, they were still regarded by many people as favourites because of the squad they have."
Tottenham defender Ledley King believes the addition of steel to go alongside Spurs' attacking qualities has been a key factor in their revival under Harry Redknapp.
King said: "We have to find that balance between playing and being tough and hard to beat and in the last few weeks we have found it.
"I thought the whole team at Villa showed the battling qualities. They are a physical side and we had to match that as well as getting the ball down and playing.
"We are confident about our game at the moment and we know we have players who can hurt the opposition.
"The squad has changed, new players have come in and we have had to fight for our lives and that is the quality we have shown. We have dug deep and managed to produce the goods."
With seventh spot likely to ensure qualification for the UEFA Cup, Tottenham could come into that equation but King is not getting carried away.
He said: "If we get on a good run, it (Europe) is possible but, at the moment, we are just looking to get three points and see where the next game takes us."
