Aston Villa goalie Brad Guzon: I'll be ready if needed
GOALKEEPER Brad Guzan insists he will be ready to fly 4,200 miles back to Birmingham to take on Manchester United should Brad Friedel lose his appeal later today against his sending-off at Liverpool.
The 24-year-old made his Premier League debut at Anfield and is in line to play at Old Trafford following the international break, dependent on the outcome of an independent FA hearing.
Guzan is with the United States at their Miami training camp ahead of their double-header of World Cup qualifiers at El Salvador on Saturday and against Trinidad and Tobago on April 1.
With Everton’s Tim Howard suspended for the match at El Salvador, Guzan should get the nod ahead of Reading’s Marcus Hahnemann, who hasn’t played for the national team in two years.
He faces a gruelling journey from Nashville, Tennessee, to make the United game but Guzan points to the experiences of Friedel.
