Aston Villa prepared for arrival of FIFA quota rules

The Football League has already agreed that at least four out of the 16 players in match-day squads have to have come through the ranks of clubs in England and Wales for next season.

The Premier League clubs will discuss the issue again at their meeting in June.

Jones added: “The big secret at any Academy is that you need to have some lads in the local area who are quality and we have had that over the years.

“I think people now realise that if you produce your own, you can save millions.

“The important area, though, is people. Without good people, the whole thing is a waste of time. If you haven’t got quality players coming in, then you’re wasting your money.”
