Agbonlahor: Aston Villa can break 'big four's' monopoly

GABBY Agbonlahor has warned the Premier League’s Big Four that Villa and two or three other clubs will be out to break their monopoly – even if they cannot do so this season.

And he says Villa’s pursuit of the top teams should also be put into context, such is the dominance they also enjoy in the Champions League.

“This is the best Premier League ever,” he said.

“Look at the players over here now, look at the way Liverpool beat Real Madrid and United beat Inter Milan comfortably. For us to finish in the top four will be hard but it will be good for the Premiership if someone can do it, whether it’s us, Everton or whoever.

“Manchester City and Tottenham will be pushing hard next season. That’s why we really want to make it this time because next year it will be even harder when you look at the money that Man City and Spurs will spend.

“Next season there could be seven or eight challenging.”

The striker says Villa must treat the remaining eight games of their season as cup finals in a bid to get their season back on track.

Agbonlahor, who is hoping to be passed fit after a hamstring injury ruled him out of England Under-21 action, was not even born when the club last won at Old Trafford.
