Colin Gibson wants Aston Villa to kick-start their season at Old Trafford

COLIN Gibson hopes Old Trafford will provide the perfect platform for Villa to kick-start their faltering Champions League push after insisting: “The season starts here.”
The former Villa and Manchester United star reckons Martin O’Neill’s top-four hopefuls must banish the doom and gloom of their slump and regroup for a fresh challenge.
Gibson admits Sunday’s visit to the league-leaders represents a daunting task for Villa, especially as United will be stung by back-to-back defeats to Liverpool and Fulham.
But the European Cup-winning hero believes a positive result against Sir Alex Ferguson’s title-chasers could rekindle Villa’s spirits for a renewed tilt at the top four.
“If they’d had any choice in the matter Villa wouldn’t want to be going to Old Trafford after a 5-0 defeat at Anfield but, that’s what the fixture list has thrown up,” said Gibson.
“The Liverpool match has gone now, it’s dead and buried. Villa can’t change it, so they shouldn’t dwell on it.
“If they can go to Manchester United, be strong and organised and pick up a point, even if they’re hanging on, then that is something substantial to build on.
