Fourth place is still on says Aston Villa's Curtis Davies

United are without a number of players, with Anderson (thigh) and Rio Ferdinand (groin) the latest injury doubts to add to Dimitar Berbatov (ankle).

Gary Neville may return after playing for the reserves, but Sir Alex Ferguson is already without right-backs Wes Brown and Rafael.

Even so, Davies knows the quality United possess. He said: “It is obviously going to be a very tough test for us.”

“I actually think it’s made even harder by the fact they have lost their last two games and will look to win to keep Liverpool at arm’s length.

“They have three suspensions to key players – Wayne Rooney, Nemanja Vidic and Paul Scholes – but they’re able to bring in international replacements in all those positions. This just shows the depth of their squad.”

Villa’s out-of-form striker Gabby Agbonlahor at least heads into the game having received a second boost inside a week after finally being credited with Villa’s second goal against Albion in January.

The Dubious Goals Panel have now added an 11th league goal this season to Agbonlahor, who belatedly made the England squad earlier this week.
