Aston Villa's Carew sends out warning to Premier League defenders

“So that was good for me. I’ve been in a good way lately and my body feels better and better.
“I’m not far from my best. I’m more or less around 100 per cent.
“I always want to be the best and I always hope to fulfil my potential, but of course injury setbacks like that always make it difficult like it has this season.”
Carew’s joy at his own personal performances has been tempered by Villa’s tumble out of the Champions League places since his return.
And the former Lyon striker agrees with manager Martin O’Neill that defensive problems are undermining Villa’s exciting attacking play.
“It was a tough game and it was a game we probably should have won,” he said.
“We scored three goals and it should have been enough at home.
“We’ve conceded a few goals, but we have to work on everything in our game.
“We score a lot of goals but maybe concede a few too many.”
But Carew was encouraged by the spirit Villa showed to recover from being 3-1 down against Everton to draw 3-3 and prevent the Toffees leapfrogging them into fifth.
“We came back from 3-1 and had a lot of great performances through the whole team I think,” he added.
“It’s never easy to come back like that especially after getting a few goals in the face early in games and not taking points. The team was quite strong mentally.
“I think we had a good game and there were a lot of positive things to take out of it.
“I really feel the fans were with us and getting really motivated and enthusiastic with the performance we produced in coming back to 3-3 and almost winning it.”
