Aston Villa fans reflect on West Ham game

It wasn't quite the result that Martin O'Neill, his team and indeed the Aston Villa fans wanted at the weekend. Here's a selection of what Villa fans are saying on our forums...

Villaman1: Champion's League is over. Last 5 minutes again!

Peter1968_5andahalf: Before the season started, we would all have been happy with 5th or 6th.

We are now at our level league wise. Playing and result wise since xmas, then we are bottom three.

Wohooo: 3 points from a possible 24 woefull and relegation candidates for next season.

Under this manger.

Boz: We have leaked goals in the last 10 minutes pretty regularly, but what has made it worse is our inability to convert chances, one goal is not enough to defend when put under pressure. Late goals have been critical because we are more often than not only leading by a single goal.

Traza: Why can MON not sort out this problem. He is supposed to be a great manager he has spent £90M on the team including a significant amount on the defence. We should have had the game sewn up before WHU scored

The current form is that of a relegation team, if this continues we will be in the lower half of the table. Forget 4th place now, we should worry about how far we will slip until the end of the season.

No more excuses please MON, give us results not sob stories. No more stupid interviews from the defenders, Curtis and ZAT do you talking on the pitch. I really expected a win today but now I can't see where the next win iscoming from.

This season will go down in our history as failure to build on a great opportunity.

Harry: This summer is absolutely critical as yet again yesterday the deficiencies of the squad were exposed. We have clear gaps in the ranks coupled with certain players' abysmal form.

If these are not rectified by the start of next season there will be much more vocal questioning of MON by fans, including myself. That's not a call to sack him but as I said on another thread (again) if we have not progressed by the end of next season then is probably the time to review whether MON is the manager to take us forward.

Again I think that is probably quite a widely held view and certainly different to the view around Christmas time.
