Aston Villa boss Martin O’Neill: Plenty to play for

MARTIN O’Neill says he is “excited” by the challenge facing him in taking Villa forward next season but he admits speculation linking Manchester City with Samuel Eto’o shows how hard it will be to compete.
The Irishman has taken Villa from 16th to 11th and to sixth in his first two seasons in charge followed this season by a likely fifth, or sixth at worst.
He admits next summer it will be even tougher to continue that upward progression but he will not shy away from trying.
“I think that is the excitement of it,” he said.
“That will not be easy.
“It will be more difficult next season than this season.”
