I'll strive to get better, vows Aston Villa record signing James Milner

Milner says the hefty price tag is of no concern.

“People can talk about the price tag but I can’t really do anything about that,” he said.

“That will obviously always be looked at. I can’t do anything about that.

“All I can do is work as hard as I can, keep improving and put in as good a performance as I can for Aston Villa.

“That’s my side. The price tag is talked about by other people.”

Milner says he cannot take his starting place for granted.

“It is down to performances. I am sure if you played poorly the manager would play someone else,” he said.

“It is up to you to get the shirt which I had to do after coming here. Then it is about keeping it.

“And as long as the manager is happy, I am happy. I will strive to keep improving and working as hard as I can and hopefully get better and better.”
