Curtis Davies vows to defy critics at Aston Villa

Curtis Davies

CURTIS Davies has called on the claret and blue defence to restore the fans’ faith in them after insisting that their own self belief has never wavered.

Davies and the rest of Villa’s backline came under fire during the 12-game winless run in all competitions for their failure to keep a single clean sheet.

But the former Albion captain hopes the shut-out against Hull last Monday has convinced the critics to lay off the Villa defence.

“It is hard to take when people are pointing fingers at the defence separately,” he said.

“I always believe you defend as a team and you attack as a team.

“But obviously it’s always going to be the case because I know football, I’ve been a fan myself and watched things.

“The fact that we’ve kept a clean sheet people will be clapping us rather than putting us down.”
