Stiliyan Petrov speaks of delight at Villa awards
STILIYAN Petrov spoke of his “delight” at scooping Villa’s Players’ and Supporters’ Player of the Year awards and admitted his challenge now is to win both again next season.
The former Celtic player also insists the target for next season remains challenging the top four all the way.
“All the player deserve to be in my place because there have been top performances from a lot of the boys in the team,” the Bulgarian international said.
“I’m really happy to win the two awards. Maybe it puts more pressure on me because next season I have to go out there and show everybody I deserve these two awards.
‘So it’s an even bigger challenge for me and one I’ll accept.”
Petrov believes Villa can take many positives out of the season despite their fall from grace over the last three months.
“The team have had a great season,” he said.
“We were talking about the fourth place and breaking into the top four but to finish not far from them has given us great courage to go on next season and do it again. That is our goal.
