Aston Villa fans furious as Gareth Barry discusses deal with Man City
Jun 2 2009 By Steve Wollaston
Outraged Aston Villa fans are venting their spleen at Gareth Barry after the announcement that Aston Villa have accepted a £12m offer from Manchester City for his services.
Many felt that if Barry did go it would be to Liverpool or Arsenal in keeping with his desire to play Champion's League football. The club have made a big noise in the past week about how they hoped to keep him at the club.
Here's what the fans are saying about the news that has today rocked Midlands football:
Boz: With one year to go, £12m is a decent fee and you don't know what the deal involves, as there could be other players as a part of the package.
If it's £12m and other players, it could be a good move for Villa, we will have to see.
MattyP: We all knew he was on his way this summer...but I can't catch my breath!! Man City?????!!!!
For someone who said they would only move for Champions League football, he goes and joins a team who haven't even got European football??!!
I never had Barry down as a money grabber, but it just goes to show you what can happen when £80,000 a week is dangled in front of you!
Thanks for everything Gareth, but right now you look a total mug.
Tilton1875: Proof yet again how he pulled the wool over the fans eyes.
Loyal players NO SUCH THING WHERE MONEY IS CONCERNED!!
