Aston Villa fans furious as Gareth Barry discusses deal with Man City

Magicof82: Fair play to the lad I wish him well hes been a fantastic servant to the club, im glad this long and drawn out transfer saga is almost at an end and good to see its being sorted out early on so it wont affect next seasons preperation.

What immediatley springs to mind for me is will the same happen to him at Man City that happened to so many during the Chelski revolution? ie Scott Parker, Damien Duff where they soon get cast aside because the club can buy anyone they want and the expectation is such that the fans demand higher profile? Or Hughes gets the chop ten games in and Barry dosnt fit into the new managers plans which is a distinct possibility?

At Villa he was guranteed a starting place in a developing team probably captaining the side aswel where he was consistently being picked for the England squad and wages have never been an issue which means that he can only be leaving because he believes Villa are not capable of challenging for honours in the near future, its a brave move for him because if his move dosnt pan out quite the way he hopes then he wont be on the plane to the world cup next year.

Woohoo:This is a very worrying time, as I tend to think that Barry was not impressed with our out of season intentions/ signings. Shouts panic stations to me.

Boz: Just hope we finish above them next season. So much for wanting CL football, no guarantees at City, just because they have deep pockets.

SpookyUK: I wonder if he will still be regarded as a Villa hero now?. Maybe another David Platt!.

I was thinking, if he goes there, what will they do with him. They already have Kompany, who is highly regarded as a holding MF, and they also have Ireland going forward, so will he play much?. Hmmmm very interesting indeed.

If it happens, the Summer just got a whole lot more important from the minute he signs the dotted line with em......

LeeHolteK6: What a total fool!!!!!!!!! I'm laughing at him right now. I hope it sends his England Career right down the pan!

Danny G: Aston Villa will be in Europe before Man City...

PaulHoltender: Why are we bothered? Good money for a player who doesn't want to be here... we can and will replace him. At least Randy Lerner will want to give the fans a boost now.
