Manchester City new boy Gareth Barry under fire from Aston Villa fans
Rickmeister: The timing indicates to me that we have either caved in way too quickly to a team with more money and more ambition or we have a top quality replacement lined up who will be signing for us in time to start pre-season training.
If the fee is £12 million then on the face of it that is not to bad. However with the speed of the deal it does not suggest to me that we have played hardball with Citeh to bump up the fee.
I wonder whether Villa are trying to get Micah Richards as part of the deal. If so, let's hope it is the Richards of 2 seasons ago rather than the donkey of last season.
I hope that a top quality replacement for Barry has been lined up and that we are going to show some ambition in this window (I still have serious doubts but will reserve my judgement). I will not be happy if MON does his usual wait until the end of the window. I want as many players as possible in by the start of pre-season. Big deals of over £20 million have already been done for Diego and Mario Gomez so big deals can be sorted before August!
MattyP: With all the money they have, WHY THE HELL are we not sponging every penny we can get out of them??!!
They wouldn't bat an eyelid a sticking another £3m on top.
Dirtdevil: I wonder why Man City even went for him anyway? It didn't strike me that central midfield was an area where they were desperate to strengthen.
DPSolihull: I don't know what all the fuss is about- we all knew he was going at the end of the season anyway. The only difference is he chose a third rate team and that annoys some of you.
Get over it, we have lost bigger, more important players than him before eg Andy Gray and we always move on. THE KING IS DEAD, LONG LIVE THE KING. Perhaps the reason he left is that after playing three years of hoofball, he realises that MON's style of play will never get us into the top four.
