Obafemi Martins' on Aston Villa hit-list
OBAFEMI Martins has emerged as a transfer target for Villa manager Martin O’Neill, who is also believed to want Tottenham’s Tom Huddlestone and David Bentley.
Bill Howell will be online at 12pm today to discuss Gareth Barry's departure to Man City.
The Nigerian international’s agent has insisted the Newcastle striker is a target for three Premier League clubs, with Villa thought to have registered their interest.
As he seeks a replacement for Gareth Barry, O’Neill has his sights set on Huddlestone, who is expected to leave White Hart Lane to enable Harry Redknapp to undertake fresh spending. Alexander Hleb, rated at £10million, was also today linked with a move to Villa from Barcelona.
Bentley turned Villa down last summer when he opted for a move to London from Blackburn but has been a £15million disaster.
O’Neill is expected to make his move for a second time though with Bentley destined to leave White Hart Lane.
