Birmingham City look for revenge on Aston Villa
Jul 3 2009 by Bill Howell, Birmingham Mail
VILLA and Blues stars from yesteryear are ready to lock horns in a Second City derby with a difference tomorrow.
And former Blues skipper Ian Clarkson says “revenge” is on the cards.
Villa not only beat their rivals 5-1 in a memorable Premier League game at Villa Park when the teams last met, but they rubbed salt in the wound by repeating the scoreline in the recent Masters event at the NIA.
Clarkson has put together an experienced line-up to try to redress the balance in a one-off 5-a-side event in Kings Heath (2pm).
Paul Devlin, Jerry Gill, Graham Hyde and Robert Hopkins will join Clarkson for Blues.
Clarkson said: “Footie fans in this area always want to see this derby and it’s a chance of revenge.”
Tomorrow’s game, as part of the Kings Heath Festival, takes place at the King Edward VI Camp Hill School, Vicarage Road. Entrance is free.
