Aston Villa should have signed Joleon Lescott - Big Ron
Ron Atkinson is puzzled by Villa’s apparent disinterest in Everton’s Joleon Lescott, a boyhood supporter who was understood to have been interested in a move to Villa Park earlier this summer but who may now be set for Manchester City.
Previous manager David O’Leary decided not to pursue an interest in Lescott who moved to Everton three years ago.
“The irony is that before Martin’s time, I could never understand why Villa did not go for Joleon Lescott,” Atkinson said.
“It used to puzzle me that the lad was on the doorstep and they never bought him.”
