ASHLEY Young says Villa can fulfil his ambition for Champions League football.
The much sought-after winger looks certain to stay with Villa this season despite seeing his name linked to Real Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea.
Ahead of tonight’s clash with Porto in the Peace Cup, he said: “It’s a big year coming up. I’m a fairly grounded person. I’ve been brought up that way.
“I could get to 30 or 40, and if I stepped out of line my mum and dad would be there.
“Obviously it is flattering to be linked with such big clubs but I am a Villa player.
“As a player you always want to play in the biggest competitions. I am no different.
“Fingers crossed one day I will be able to play in the Champions League and with the way that things are going at the club hopefully we will break into that top four and get the chance to play there, which is the ambition of the club.”
Young says he will be happy to play up front next season with Stewart Downing likely to play on the left wing when he is fit.
“As long as I am in the team, playing week in, week out, I don’t mind,” he added.
