Shorey's future with Aston Villa in doubt

NICKY Shorey admits he is unsure whether he will still be a Villa player when the transfer window closes on August 31.
Shorey’s future has been the subject of summer-long conjecture after he spent most of his first season at Villa Park on the substitutes bench.
Martin O’Neill’s pursuit of Blackburn left-back Stephen Warnock has led to further speculation that the diminutive defender could be surplus to requirements.
Shorey and his defensive colleagues suffered a collective off-day during Villa’s dismal opening Premier League defeat to Wigan on Saturday.
And the former Reading and England full-back was jeered by a small pocket of supporters as he walked to the car park following the 2-0 reverse.
With Wilfred Bouma still struggling with a severe ankle problem and Villa short on defenders, Shorey has regained his place in the first team.
