Brad Friedel says Villa will go out all guns blazing at Reds

BRAD Friedel insists Villa will go out with “all guns blazing” at Liverpool tonight to make amends for last season’s Anfield annihilation.

The former Reds goalkeeper endured a humiliating return to his old club when he was sent off during March’s 5-0 drubbing by the Scousers.

And, although the American’s first ever red card in English football was later rescinded, he is keen to banish the result this evening.

“In football a lot of times it’s about putting things right that you got wrong and last year we definitely got things wrong,” said Friedel.

“To get sent off for the first time since I’ve been over in England was bitterly disappointing.

“I think the only other time I was sent off in my career was back in the States for a professional foul when I was on loan at Columbus Crew.

“So I was very happy that the Liverpool one got rescinded.

“We obviously need to get off the mark as well points-wise.

“They won against Stoke last match so we have a tough match, but it is one that we’ll relish. It was a big loss for us.

“At the time we were sort of in the middle of quite a poor run and sometimes it doesn’t matter if you lose 1-0 or 5-0 because either way you don’t take away the points.

“We’re going to try and put that behind us and try and get the three points on the night.”
