Petrov vow after Aston Villa Rapid Vienna defeat
STILIYAN Petrov admitted there was huge disappointment in the Villa dressing room after last night’s bitter defeat to Rapid Vienna but vowed the team would bounce back.
The Villa skipper had hoped to lead his side on to European glory this season through qualification to the Europa League and beyond but saw his team crash out despite winning 2-1 on the night.
“This is a real low,” Petrov said. “As players, this was a European match, we wanted to win it on a great European night and progress in the competition.
‘‘I think we did enough – we just coudn’t keep a clean sheet.”
The Bulgarian international admitted Villa could and should have put the game beyond reach in the first half .
