James Milner in jokey reaction to Aston Villa's Liverpool triumph

JAMES Milner has sarcastically summed up the over-reaction to Villa’s stuttering start by jokingly describing the Liverpool triumph as “three points in our relegation battle”.
Milner, like manager Martin O’Neill and the rest of the Villa players, were stung by the amount of criticism they received after their opening defeat to Wigan.
And the former Newcastle winger hopes the club’s first victory at Anfield in almost eight years on Monday evening will banish the negative vibes around Villa Park once and for all.
“You try not to pay to much attention to it,” said Milner, ahead of tomorrow’s game against Fulham at Villa Park.
“I suppose winning at Liverpool is three points for us now in the relegation battle we’re going to be in.
“It’s helped to shut a few of those people up and we’ve just got to get on with it again.
“Obviously when people say things like that it’s down to us to prove them wrong.
“The pressure comes on and the doom and gloom around the place. That’s when you need your character and your togetherness as a squad. We showed that.
“To come to a place like Anfield it would have been easy to roll over again and be all doom and gloom, but we didn’t do that.
