Aston Villa: Curtis Davies to play through pain against Fulham

CLARET and blue lionheart Curtis Davies is likely to be risked in tomorrow’s clash with Fulham after Villa missed the cut-off point to sign Richard Dunne in time to play.
But manager Martin O’Neill today revealed that Davies is booked in to see a specialist in midweek and could be forced to undergo surgery on his shoulder.
With Villa down to Carlos Cuellar as their only fit senior centre-half and rookies Shane Lowry and Ciaran Clark as cover, Davies is set to play through the pain barrier.
“He came off on Thursday night with a shoulder injury and I spoke to him yesterday and so did the doctor and it is something we will look at when the international break takes place,” O’Neill said.
“He is going to see a specialist on Tuesday or Wednesday and that will be important. All decisions will be up to the player but we will see.
“He is feeling upbeat again but it is occurring more regularly than before and it is something we all have to look at, myself as a manager, the doctor, but more particularly the player himself.
“He has got a great, great heart. He wants to play, wants to go on and from that aspect in terms of heart he has nothing to prove to me. He has shown that dozens of times.
