Aston Villa: Paul McGrath a big inspiration for me - Richard Dunne

RICHARD Dunne admits he is honoured to be mentioned in the same breath as Paul McGrath after revealing he used to hero worship the Aston Villa and Ireland icon.
Following his £6million move last week, Dunne is Villa’s first Republic of Ireland central defender since McGrath’s feted spell in claret and blue from 1989 to 1996.
Dunne has been lucky enough to meet McGrath on several occasions and was honoured to play in his Ireland testimonial at Dublin’s Lansdowne Road 11 years ago.
And, although the former Manchester City captain is proud to follow in McGrath’s Villa footsteps, he admits he faces a daunting task trying to live up to the legend.
