Aston Villa goal hero Gabby Agbonlahor reveals he was inspired by Birmingham City fans' cruel chants

Aston Villa match-winner Gabby Agbonlahor has dedicated the goal that settled the Second City derby to the Blues boo-boys who inspired him with their cruel chants.

Agbonlahor was once again the scourge of St Andrew’s after shrugging off the Birmingham fans’ offensive taunts to nod home the late winner in Villa’s dramatic 1-0 victory.

It is the second successive time that a last-gasp header from Agbonlahor has decided this fixture after he secured a 2-1 win on Blues territory almost two years ago.

And, after silencing the St Andrew’s faithful, the Brummie striker has invited them to continue winding him up in future after revealing that the jibes motivated him.

“It’s nice for the Villa fans to sing my name, but when they start doing that the Blues fans sing another version,” said Agbonlahor.

“I think that’s what makes me score. If they keep singing that song, I’ll keep scoring.

“On a serious note it’s nice for Villa fans to be singing about me, but really it’s about us getting the three points.

“I’ve got a lot of friends who are Villa fans who were at the game so if we didn’t win I’d have been getting some stick myself.
