Aston Villa: Stephen Warnock delighted by attacking options at Villa
Aston Villa defender Stephen Warnock has expressed his excitement at playing alongside wingers James Milner and Ashley Young after saluting his new club’s attacking quality.
Warnock got to experience linking up with Milner and Young on his debut as Martin O’Neill’s wide men swapped flanks during Sunday’s 1-0 Second City victory over Birmingham City.
The former Blackburn Rovers left-back was impressed with both players and believes the quality Villa have going forward and their ability to score goals takes the pressure off the defence.
“I think if we can keep it tight at our end of the field, we are always going to create at the other end,” said Warnock.
“The pace of the lads up front and the ability of them is fantastic.
“You know that they are going to get chances and once we scored we had a couple more on the break.
“I’m looking forward to playing with either Ashley Young or James Milner in front of me.
“They’re both fantastic players, who can beat their man. I’m hoping I can just knock the ball forward and let them get on with it!
