“But I set out the rules and if people don’t adhere to them, they run the risk of upsetting me.”
On the possibility of a fine, O’Neill who fined striker John Carew two weeks’ wages for breaking a night-time curfew ahead of a Uefa Cup game last season, said: “I will have a look at things over the weekend.”
O’Neill insisted heated rows were part and parcel of football recounting one of his own experiences as a player with Sammy Chapman while at Nottingham Forest.
“I am not the biggest in the world but I don’t shrink away,” he said. “I had the crap beaten out of me by Sammy.
“We had a bit of a fight and he was bigger than me. I got three punches on the way down and got clobbered.
“John Robertson carried me out of the training ground and said that was brave. It happens all the time and always has but in this day and age it is liable to be reported.
“I have no problem with that.”
