Aston Villa: Gabby is in form of his life - John Carew

“I will be chasing him out of the gym if he gets any bigger.’’

Carew believes Agbonlahor will earn an England recall in time for next summer’s World Cup finals in South Africa if he maintains his current goalscoring form.

“He should be there, definitely,” added Carew.

“In the shape he’s in now, the explosiveness, the power and the fact he’s scoring goals, I don’t see any reason why he shouldn’t be in the England squad.”

Meanwhile, forgotten forward Marlon Harewood is set to complete his long-awaited loan move to Championship high-fliers Newcastle.

Harewood’s agent Phil Sproson expects the temporary switch to go through during the next few days.

“I believe we are close to agreeing everything and hopefully the move can be finalised later this week,” said Sproson.

“Talks are ongoing between both clubs and I think they are keen to get it resolved.

“Marlon is back to fitness now and he is ready and raring to go.

“Marlon is very keen on going to Newcastle and playing regular first-team football again.”
