Aston Villa: Martin O’Neill stews over Emile Heskey’s controversial England comments

Martin O'Neill

MARTIN O’Neill will stew over Emile Heskey’s controversial comments about considering quitting Villa until the England striker returns from international duty later this week.

The Villa boss was back at his desk today following a few days off and will make it a priority to decide how to deal with Heskey publicly questioning his authority.

And O’Neill has warned all of Villa’s Three Lions hopefuls, including Heskey, that next summer’s World Cup is a long way off and they should concentrate on their club form.

Heskey, who is reportedly now interesting former clubs Liverpool and Wigan, is worried his lack of first-team football at Villa could cost him his status as an automatic starter under Fabio Capello.

The former Blues striker suggested he would have to “address” his future and ponder his “next move” when he returns to Villa after tonight’s England match against Belarus.
