Aston Villa's Ashley Young admits West Ham United's late winner took the shine off his equaliser

James Milner with team-mate Ashley Young.

ASHLEY Young admitted enduring an evening of mixed emotions after missing a penalty, scoring a stunning goal and finishing on the losing side.

The former Watford winger thought he had made up for his fluffed second-half spot-kick when he drew Villa level with a brilliant strike moments later.

But Young confessed that West Ham’s late winner took the gloss off his goal which ultimately counted for nothing during the depressing defeat.

“We’re disappointed to concede a goal in the dying minutes,” said Young.

“We always looked on top in the second half and we felt we could have gone on and won especially the way we came out after the break.
