MARTIN O’Neill sends Villa back out on the road to Burnley this weekend admitting they will be hard-pressed to repeat last season’s record-breaking away run.
Villa kicked off their best-ever sequence of consecutive league successes on opposition territory with a victory over Arsenal at the Emirates in mid-November last year.
But, ahead of Saturday’s trip to Turf Moor, O’Neill accepts it will be tough to equal either seven straight wins or last season’s overall tally of ten Premier League away successes.
“This time last year we went on a fantastic run winning games away from home,” recalled the manager.
“We kept it going for a considerable time, which was important, but repeating that this season won’t be easy.
“What is also important is recovering from your setbacks. That’s why winning against Bolton was so important.
“We have some tough games ahead before we bring in the New Year.
“This next set of games that lead up to Christmas will give us a fair indication of where we stand.”
