Aston Villa: James Milner says Emile Heskey is back on the goal trail
Dec 5 2009 by Lisa Smith, Birmingham Mail
JAMES Milner has tipped Emile Heskey to give manager Martin O’Neill a few more selection headaches over the coming weeks and months following the striker’s recent goal flurry.
Milner is delighted to see his England team-mate shine in claret and blue after a difficult spell which saw Heskey struggle to find form at Villa Park.
A headed equaliser in the Premier League against Burnley at Turf Moor and then a goal in Villa’s 4-2 defeat of Portsmouth at Fratton Park in the Carling Cup quarter-final in midweek have set Heskey on the goal trail, Milner believes.

That will leave O’Neill with a few things to consider with Gabby Agbonlahor currently the side’s top striker with eight goals in all competitions so far and John Carew also getting off the mark recently.
Milner said: “Emile is a top player and he works very hard in training every day. He is a crucial squad member and is showing the performances now for Villa that he is known for with England.
“What you need in a top side is competition for places and we are blessed with that now at Villa.”
Milner is delighted that Heskey has seized his chance when called upon, insisting that can only benefit the team.
“What the manager wants is people to come in and take their chance and when they do like Emile has done, it is very pleasing,” he said. “Hopefully it gives the manager a few selection problems now.
“Emile gets in the right positions and does what good strikers do.”
