Petrov looks for Aston Villa to bounce back against Liverpool

VILLA skipper Stiliyan Petrov was disappointed by the defeat to Arsenal but insisted it was onwards and upwards with a huge game against Liverpool tomorrow.

Stiliyan Petrov crosses into the box.

Villa entertain the Reds at Villa Park and the Bulgarian international said three points from that game and a return to winning ways was a must.

“It’s very disappointing to lose this one,” he said of the Arsenal game.

“After the run we have had we were really looking forward to it and going into the game with confidence.

“After the first goal we tried to score but then we left ourselves open. When you give Arsenal more space they can hurt you and that’s what they did.”

Petrov insisted Villa’s first defeat in eight Premier League games was behind them now.

“This game is done with,’’ he said. “We have another big game tomorrow and we’re looking forward to that one.

“We know it’s a big one and we will try to get the three points.”

Petrov was full of praise for Villa’s destroyer Cesc Fabregas.

“I’ve said it so many times, that is why he is worth £40 million. That is why the big clubs are after him, because he can change games like that.

“He has the ability and quality to do it, as two goals in 15 minutes or so proves. He is a world-class player.”
