Allardyce puts Aston Villa on notice... it's Wembley or bust

BLACKBURN boss Sam Allardyce has left Villa in no doubt that his priority during the clubs’ cup trilogy is to book a place at Wembley in the Carling Cup final.

Rovers travel to Villa Park for the FA Cup third round today before hosting Villa in the League Cup last four on Tuesday evening with the return leg 15 days later.

“This month becomes one thing and one thing only and that is trying to get to Wembley,” said Allardyce.

“All right, the Premier League is what we are all about and definitely the most important for the football club – but not this month.

“We will deal with the Premier League when it comes around.

“First we have the FA Cup third round, which is always a glitzy thing, but in terms of this month it is not the top priority so we have to manage as best we can to get the golden prize.

“If we beat Villa on Saturday that would be fantastic but it won’t be as important as beating them on Tuesday night.

“The team I field in the next four games, none of it will ever be the same. The changes will ring round.

“Obviously we are the underdogs on the run of form Aston Villa have had since we beat them.”
