FORMER Holte End hero Dwight Yorke has challenged current claret and blue playboy John Carew to step out of his comfort zone to truly fulfil his potential at Villa.
Carew strengthened his love affair with the Villa fans with a stunning hat-trick to fire Martin O’Neill’s FA Cup hopefuls past Reading into the semi-finals on Sunday.
But the Norwegian target man is still not assured of a starting role in Villa’s return to Premier League action against Stoke at the Britannia Stadium this weekend.
And, despite taking his goal tally to 11 for the season in the 4-2 win at the Madejski Stadium, Carew faces ongoing questions about his lack of consistency.
Carew enjoys the high life and boosted his popularity with many supporters after being caught in a Birmingham lap-dancing club on the day of a match last season.
The flamboyant frontman is also renowned for his love of the ladies after dating Strictly Come Dancing judge Alesha Dixon and lingerie model Lauren Budd.
And Yorke, who was also famous for scoring on and off the field, believes the time has come for Carew to start producing the goods for Villa on a regular basis.
“Enjoy it, that’s what’s life’s all about,” said Yorke. “Just make sure you don’t take your work for granted.
“Enjoy the rewards that come from it because it’s not forever.
