Aston Villa winger Ashley Young keen to sign new contract

ASHLEY Young has given Villa boss Martin O’Neill a pre-season boost by revealing he is eager to sign a new contract with the club.
The former Watford winger, who has two years left on his current deal, has been linked with a big-money move to Liverpool this summer.
But Young insists he would be interested in extending his time at Villa even further if his representatives can agree terms.
Young is already one of the club’s best-paid players, but Villa are anxious to reward him more to avoid a repeat of Manchester City’s pursuit of James Milner.
Asked about reports that he is negotiating a bumper new deal at Villa Park, Young, who joined Villa for £9 million-plus in January 2007, replied: “You know more than me!
“Of course, if it comes about I’m more than happy to stay at the club.
