ASHLEY Young admits he is happy to have a ‘hole’ lot of fun if Martin O’Neill wants him to play in an advanced role behind Villa’s strikers.
The winger was employed in a central attacking position in Monday’s friendly win at Peterborough and responded with a wonder goal.
And Young, who also created another sublime goal for strike partner John Carew in the 4-4-1-1 system, insists he is happy to play in the hole for the claret and blues.
“Nowadays there are a lot of players who can play in different positions and that’s good for the team, the squad and the manager,” said Young.
“I am a versatile player. When I first signed for the club, I played up front.
“I have also played off the front man, I’ve played right, I’ve played left and I’ve even played in central midfield too.
“There are a lot of positions I have played in. Wherever the manager wants me to play I am happy to play there.
