Luke Young wants to focus on Villa Park future rather than Martin O'Neill

LUKE Young is looking forward rather than back after insisting there is no anti-Martin O’Neill agenda in the Villa dressing room.

Young and his team-mates are becoming increasingly frustrated at being asked to discuss the former manager instead of the new era at Villa Park.

The ex-Tottenham, Charlton and Middlesbrough right-back scored the winner in Sunday’s Premier League victory at home to Everton and is focusing on the future.

Young, captain Stiliyan Petrov and defender Stephen Warnock have been disappointed with how Villa players’ feelings towards their ex-boss and the current state of the club have been portrayed in some recent stories.

“We don’t want to keep talking about Martin O’Neill,” said Young, who was glad to see the back of the transfer window yesterday after summer-long rumours about his future.

“He left three weeks ago and we want to look forward to what’s happening under Kevin MacDonald or whoever the new manager is.

“All I’ve said is that I never had a problem with Martin O’Neill, but that I’m glad to have got a fresh chance at Villa with Kev in the last few weeks.
