Luke Young: Villa have not been scarred by 7-1 destruction

VILLA’S seven deadly sins at Stamford Bridge last season will have no bearing whatsoever against Chelsea tomorrow, insist the claret and blue dressing room.
Carlo Ancelotti’s aristocrats arrive at Villa Park having humiliated Villa 7-1 the last time the clubs met in the Premier League in March.
It was seen as the beginning of the end for former boss Martin O’Neill with ominous doubts about his future first surfacing just days after the embarrassing drubbing.
But Villa have entered a bright new era under Gerard Houllier this season and are determined to banish memories of their heaviest defeat for 24 years.
The Chelsea shocker was particularly hard to take for Luke Young, coming after a rare start for the defender who has since reclaimed his first-team place.
And Young insists the 7-1 hammering will count for nothing when Villa take on the reigning champions and current league leaders this weekend.
“It has no relevance to the game coming up, none whatsoever,” he said.
“It’s another game. It’s like if you had a bad game last week, that’s gone and you move on from that. I don’t think previous results make any difference.
“Once you’re out there and warming up for the next game, that’s all you’re thinking about so it doesn’t matter towards the game coming up.
“We don’t want to talk about something that happened that long ago. We move on.
“Every team gets beat heavily every now and then. We got beat this year at Newcastle but that’s miles away – now you concentrate on the next game.”
