STEPHEN Warnock has underlined the importance of winning a medal to kick his claret and blue career to the next level ahead of tonight’s Carling Cup clash against Burnley.
Warnock admits the current Villa team will be motivated to go one better having lost in the final of last season’s competition to Manchester United at Wembley back in February.
“The League Cup is very important,” he said as Villa attempt to close in on a quarter - final place with victory over their Championship visitors tonight.
“It was a great experience to play in the final last season. Now we know what it’s like to be beaten in a final and we want to go back there and win.
“It’s a chance to win some silverware. You want to look back on your career and think you have won something.
“But this is a difficult competition. If you look at the winners over the past few years, they have all been top clubs, which shows how much it means.
