Tom Ross: Birmingham City and Aston Villa morons have shamed our city
Dec 8 2010 by Tom Ross

I HOPE the police lock up the thugs and hooligans who spoilt what was supposed to be a showpiece of Birmingham football, a brilliant all-Brummie affair at St Andrew’s last Wednesday.
Long before the game started it all kicked off outside as so-called supporters threw things at each other with a number of them and police officers being taken to hospital.
Innocent fans on their way to the game were delayed getting into the stadium because of the thuggish moronic behaviour of those intent on trouble and who had no interest in the football whatsoever but used the game simply as an excuse for wreaking violence.
They were still fighting in the streets after the game kicked off so probably didn’t even have a ticket for the Cup clash.
I have heard and read lots of stuff all blaming the police, the stewards, and the clubs – in fact anybody and everybody other than the real culprits.
Those that were fighting in the streets around the ground. They are the idiots who ran on the pitch to taunt and confront the opposition supporters and inflame what was already a tense atmosphere.
That idiot who threw the flare could so easily have killed someone.
Those idiots who ripped out over 500 seats and used them as missiles to endanger the health and safety of fellow Brummies.
Those idiots who ripped out every single toilet underneath the stand before and during the game
True, they were only a minority of the people attending the game but something has to be done to ensure this doesn’t happen again.
I have heard all the comments saying the police should have done this or the stewards should have done that.
