Aston Villa: Big guns to return for Wigan clash

Emile Heskey

RICHARD Dunne and Emile Heskey are expected to be fit to return to claret and blue duty in Villa’s potential safety-clinching home clash against Wigan this weekend.

Heskey missed last Saturday’s disappointing 2-1 defeat at West Brom with the centre forward nursing a slight knee problem.

Dunne left the field just after half-time at the Hawthorns with a dead leg following a kick in the central defender’s backside.

But both players returned to training yesterday and should be in contention for the crucial clash against Roberto Martinez’s Latics.

“Both Richard Dunne and Emile Heskey trained with the team today so they’re fine and better,” confirmed caretaker manager Gary McAllister.

Villa go into the match six points above the drop zone with three matches left – with a trip to Arsenal sandwiched between home games against Wigan and Liverpool.

But a win on Saturday would open up a nine-point gap on third bottom Wigan, mathematically guaranteeing the claret and blues top flight status for next season.
