Aston Villa v Wolves: Aston Villa to unleash new formation this weekend

ALEX McLeish is ready to unleash Villa’s new 4-2-3-1 formation on Wolves with two of last weekend’s goal-getters expected to be passed fit to play.

There were concerns over whether Gabby Agbonlahor and Emile Heskey would be available for tomorrow’s derby after both departed the action early following their goalscoring heroics in the victory over Blackburn.

Agbonlahor limped off at half-time, still feeling the effects of a kick in the hamstring after opening the scoring with an early wonder goal.

Heskey doubled Villa’s lead midway through the first half, only to join his fellow forward in the treatment room just after the hour mark.

But both players have returned to training and are set to take their places alongside Charles N’Zogbia in the supporting strikeforce behind Darren Bent.

Luke Young also hobbled off last weekend after receiving a blow to his knee.

Villa are still awaiting a conclusive update on the experienced right-back’s injury, but are hopeful he will play, with McLeish expected to name an unchanged Premier XI from the draw at Fulham and win over Blackburn.

It would mean eight changes from the shadow side who started the Carling Cup victory over League Two Hereford on Tuesday evening.
