ALEX McLeish is hoping Darren Bent is not unsettled by ongoing, unfounded rumours about his future – after laughing off the speculation.
Liverpool have been repeatedly linked with a January swoop for Villa’s record signing who only joined the claret and blues from Sunderland a year ago.
But McLeish strongly repeated the club’s stance that Bent will not be sold this month and revealed it had become a running joke with the England striker.
“We kid him along,” said McLeish.
“There’s banter, ‘When are you off?!’ and that kind of stuff, and he says ‘You probably know more than me’ and I say ‘But, I don’t’. There’s been no contact. I don’t think he will be going anywhere.
