ROBBIE Keane is determined to bring the best out of Darren Bent after insisting they do have the makings of a prolific strike partnership.
Keane and Bent never really clicked together during their time at Tottenham, but Villa’s new boy reckons they were a better double act than they were given credit for at White Hart Lane.
And their reunion in claret and blue brings back together two of the top flight’s modern-day leading scorers.
No club currently boasts a forward duo who have netted more goals between them than the 220 Keane and Bent have fired in the Premier League.
While Keane has hit 123 and is joint 11th in the all-time Premier list with former Villa favourite Dwight Yorke, Bent is just three goals short of joining him in the 100-club on 97.
Asked if he is confident of linking up well with Bent, Keane replied: “I hope so.
“Of course you want to build up a good partnership with any striker, in my short spell here I’ll try and be a good foil for whoever.
“When we did play together at Spurs we actually did play well together, even if it wasn’t on many occasions, we were a good partnership.
“Whether I play with Darren, Gabby or whoever, that’s up to the manager to choose who plays.
“But I’m not naive enough to think I’m going to just come here and walk into the team when you’ve got players like Gabby, who’s been brilliant, Emile Heskey, who is injured at moment, and young Nathan Delfouneso.”
