Former Birmingham City co-owner David Sullivan retracts "rude" comments about Carson Yeung

Live webchat with Colin Tattum tomorrow at 12.30pm - www.birminghammail.net/live

These are just some of the things I admire about the Yeung regime, and I have a growing respect for their operation. Now all I want is to resolve our issues so that we can all move on and have a cordial relationship in the years ahead. I must admit I was horrified at the idea that they want to involve the police for what is a civil dispute.

But I suppose the relationship broke down and perhaps they thought this was a way of shaking things up.

There has been a damaging war of words and I take my share of the blame for this, because this sort of bitterness exacerbates the situation.

What I’m saying now, genuinely, is that there is nothing to hide, and there is nothing illegal to be found. I accept they have a problem. But this is a civil matter and I would urge them to deal with it as such.

So let’s have no more dirty washing being aired in public, and no long, protracted and therefore expensive battle.

Today I say to the Yeung camp: What do you want to propose to settle this disagreement?

I can’t promise to agree to everything, but I can promise to listen carefully, to treat them with respect and to strive to settle this without going to the expense of lawyers.

Ultimately, we want to resolve this quickly and amicably so the club can get on.

An extra agreement about no more sniping from either side would also be in the club’s best interests.

And then we can genuinely wish them all the best for the future and move on."
