Birmingham 2 Sheffield Wednesday 0: Half-time report

Jean Beausejour and Obafemi Martins scored their first goals for Birmingham to put them in command of their FA Cup fifth-round tie with Sheffield Wednesday at St Andrew's.

Beausejour broke the deadlock after five minutes and Martins doubled City's lead 12 minutes later.

But Alexander Hleb, who created both goals, had to be carried off on a stretcher after 22 minutes to make him a major doubt to face former club Arsenal in the Carling Cup final.

Birmingham continued to dominate and Roger Johnson was only just off target with a header from a Keith Fahey free-kick.

Owls boss Gary Megson made a defensive change after 27 minutes with Richard Hinds replacing Mark Reynolds.
